Aging Services & Related Planning with Dr. Visa Srinivasan

On Tuesday, March 9, 2021, Dr. Visa Srinivasan will speak to the Brevard County Estate Planning Council on the  topic of aging services, touching on issues relating to diminished capacity and planning.

Visalakshmi Srinivasan, MD
Board-certified in Geriatrics and Internal Medicine, Dr. Srinivasan, also known as Dr. Visa, is a member of the Health First Aging Services. She has been a Health First Medical Group Geriatrician since September 2005.

Dr. Visa earned her Medical degree at Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai India, where she grew up. She then went on to complete her post-graduate work in the United Kingdoms. After completing her post-graduate training, Dr. Visa married a biomedical engineer and they moved to Ohio. There she completed her Internship and Residency at Cleveland Clinic Hospital. It was during her geriatric rotation that she knew her focus would be to care for older patients.

Dr. Visa works alongside an interdisciplinary medical team which includes nurse practitioners, specialists in social work, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, pharmacy, nutritional services, home care, private duty nursing and hospice care.

Dr. Visa finds providing medical care for senior patients rewarding. She enjoys their years of wisdom and their show of appreciation for services they receive. While helping seniors, Dr. Visa also gets to know their family members. Often, understanding the dynamics of the family unit can help in treatment of the patients.

Dr. Visa’s professional interests include geriatric syndromes like memory disorders, medication and poly pharmacy assessments, gait and balance assessments, frailty and future planning for her patients.

In addition to her geriatric practice, Dr. Visa serves as a preceptor for University of Central Florida medical students, Florida State University medical students and she teaches neuropsychology students at Florida Institute of Technology.

Dr. Visa enjoys traveling, classical music, reading and spending time with family and friends.
